From Loss to Leadership: Sharon’s Story

When Sharon lost both of her parents at the age of 3 years, her dream of becoming a teacher seemed impossible. Living with his elderly grandfather in a small rural village, Sharon often missed school because there was no money for school fees, uniforms, food or learning materials.

Many days, he went to class hungry and discouraged.
Everything changed when Sharon was enrolled in the Reborn foundation Sponsorship Program. Through the support of a caring sponsor, Sharon is receiving school fees, a school uniform, textbooks, and regular mentorship and food supplies. For the first time in years, she could attend school consistently and focus on her studies without fear of being sent home for unpaid fees.

Before the sponsorship, I thought I would never finish school,” Sharon shares. “Now I believe my future matters.”
In addition to academic support, Sharon participates in life skills training and counseling sessions that helps rebuild her confidence and emotional well-being. Her teachers soon noticed improvement not only in her grades but also in her leadership and participation in class activities.

Today, Sharon is one of the top-performing students in her class and serves as a peer mentor to younger children in the community. Her dreams of attending university and returning to help vulnerable children overcome the same challenges she once faced. Sharon’s story is a powerful reminder that education sponsorship does more than pay school fees it restores dignity, unlocks potential, and gives children hope for a brighter future. Because of generous sponsors and supporters, children like Sharon are discovering that their circumstances do not define their destiny.
